COMPETITION GOLF IS BACK!

< Back to news

We are excited to see competitive golf return to St. Margaret’s from Wednesday 1st July, and we would ask all members to familiarise themselves with the following #staysafe guidelines which apply to all club competitions until further notice:

CLUB COMPETITIONS

  • Competition golf will re-commence on Wednesday 1st July.
  • In light of the current situation, we are introducing the Competition Purse facility on BRS for all competitions in the immediate future. This is to limit the physical interactions in the pro-shop and provide an easy cashless experience for competitions.
  • There will be both competition tee-times and casual golf tee-times assigned on BRS. You must book accordingly on BRS based on which type of golf you wish to play. I.e. If you book a casual competition tee time you cannot enter the competition by paying in the pro-shop.
  • The competition at the weekend will be one overall competition. A member will have the choice of playing either Saturday or Sunday. A member may only play once in the competition.
COMPETITION RULES
  • All 9 & 18 hole competitions will be Qualifying for handicapping purposes.
  • A player will now be permitted to place their ball in a bunker within 6″ not nearer the hole. Please note the area may not be smoothed before placing. We ask that all players smooth the sand with their foot after playing their shot.
  • Flagsticks must remain in the hole at all times.
SCORECARDS
  • Members will be signed into the competition ahead of their arrival time by a staff member and will just have to collect their card from the pro-shop. Members will mark their own card and their playing partner will verbally verify the scores after the round. At this point, the player will record the name of the member who has verified the score on their own scorecard.
  • Scorecards will be submitted to the box located directly outside the clubhouse at the back of the 18th green.
  • Competitions will be processed and closed within 72 hours of all scorecards being returned. This is to allow staff the time to sanitise and close the competitions safely.
We would like to wish you the best of luck with your game over the coming weeks and hope to see your name among the list of winners!
